Joseph Santos

Joseph Santos, age 94, of New Bedford passed away at home on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. Born on December 9, 1931, Joseph was a lifelong resident of New Bedford. He was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Amaral) Santos.

Joseph worked at the TipTop Varity then many years as maintenance supervisor for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts until his retirement.

Joseph was the beloved husband of Carol M. (Ponte) Santos for over 70 years. He is survived by his wife and children, Carlene LeBlanc and partner Andre Faucher; Diane Nooth and husband Timothy; Louise McLaughlin; Katherine (Kathy) Lena; Joseph Santos and partner Lucy Silva; and Bernadette (Bernie) Santos; 8 grandchildren, Keith and partner Cynthia; Kristi and husband Bert; Kerri and husband Dave; Jillian and husband Dany; Kelly and partner Kellen; Christoper and partner Jocelyn; Tesla and wife Andrea; and Jaclyn and husband Tyler, and 6 great grandchildren, Alexis; Nikolas; Mya; Greyson; Christopher Jr; and Richard Joseph (RJ), along with several step grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brother-in-law Thomas Rocha and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his siblings, Philomena Sbardella and husband Pasquale; Hilda Rocha; three sons-in-law and granddaughter Heather Santos.

Joseph especially loved spending quality time with his family and friends, camping or just watching the grass grow. He always greeting you with a smile and “Good Morning”. He enjoyed camping with the Wampanoag or Quahoag chapters of NAFCA, in his time camping he held several officer positions including vice president of NAFCA and president of Wampanoag chapter 31.
