

Joseph, born in Boston, was the son of Victoriana Martel (Forto) and the late Joseph Martin Whalen. After attending Brookline High School and Pawtucket High School, Joseph worked in the field of finance for several years and was an aspiring entrepreneur. Joseph was engaged to Beatrice Amado, with whom he shared two sons, Josiah and Jonah.
Joseph was vibrant and full of charisma, lighting up any room with his bright smile, golden eyes, and his humor. He loved his mother and father, brothers, and sisters gained through marriages. He was passionate about building a life with his fiancée Beatrice. Joseph also shared his entrepreneur skills with his friends, encouraging them in their goals of business ownership. The youngest of 4 brothers, he greatly loved his older brothers: Bob, Jeremy and Joshua, and strived to build strong brotherly bonds in his children as well.
He poured his love into his family, encouraging his children to keep striving to do their best. Joseph enjoyed learning about new foods, often traveling with his fiancée and children to places that boasted the best and most interesting cuisines. He loved experiencing everything he could in life and sharing those experiences with those he loved.
Joseph M. Steele is survived by his children Josiah Steele and Jonah Steele; fiancée Beatrice Amado; mother Victoriana Martel; brother Bob A. Steele and sister-in-love Bannet Steel; brother Jeremy F. Steel and sister-in-love Yolanda Steel; brother Joshua N. Steel and sister-in-love Krista Steele; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by Joseph Whalen.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 8-10 am with a Funeral Service at 10 am in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery.
