Affectionately known as the “Gingah Ninjah” and self-proclaimed ladies man, Josh lived life
every day as if it was his last. Only a brave soul would combine ketchup with white rice and
Thanksgiving day turkey, coupled with a tall glass of strawberry milk. He was generous to a
fault, had the kindest of hearts, but always told you the truth, even if it was not what you wanted
to hear. His fondness of spaghetti was only surpassed by his love of sports. In true Josh
fashion, he used his charm, combined with his love of the Patriots to not only attend every home
game of the 2018 season, but it even got him to the Super Bowl. He made it through 15
checkpoints, drinking, eating and celebrating with millions of people, all of whom I’m sure went
home with a crazy story about that guy from Massachusetts with the huge orange beard and a
larger than life personality.
Josh had his very own fan base. There is not a person that Josh met that he did not make a
personal connection with. However, his number one fan, his cupcake, his sweet daughter
Maelyn was the love of his life. She was his world. He loved her with all of his heart and he will
forever be in hers. They were thick as thieves, best buddies and well-known customers to all of
the local restaurants. His entourage of friends could easily fill the stands of Gillette Stadium.
They came from all walks of life, from his childhood years to his last days. He considered each
friend an extension of his family.
Josh was employed by the New Bedford Public School District, Trinity Day Academy. He was
respected by his colleagues and extremely involved with his students. His life's work was devoted
to mentoring the children of our community. On the side, Josh was known for his bartending
skills. He certainly brought more than just slinging drinks to each event he worked.
He is survived by his daughter Maelyn, mother, Patricia Major a.k.a Google, brother Adam
Major, sisters Jessica McKenna, Jillian and her husband Jamie Heos, Jennifer Major and Fabio
Araujo. Uncle Josh to Addessa, Colby, Isabella, Aidan, Lily, Logan, Gavin and Emme. His aunts
and uncles, Marie and Scott McRae, John and Maureen McMullen, James and Jane McMullen
and numerous cousins, all of whom he was very close to. He was committed to informing
everyone he was “Gram’s favorite”, but we each individually know the “real truth”. He will be
greatly missed by all.
Due to the current restrictions on public gatherings, a celebration of life will be held at a later
date.
