Lauretta Demers

Lauretta (Coulombe) Demers, 97, of New Bedford passed away Thursday, May 21, 2020 in Brandon Woods. She was the wife of the late Richard Demers.

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late William and Emma (Farley) Coulombe, she was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Demers worked as a winder at Aerovox for over 40 years until her retirement in 1985. She loved cleaning and will always be remembered as a cherished family caretaker.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Demers and his wife Linda of Venice, FL and Bruce Demers and his wife Claudia of Acushnet; a sister, Gloria Mello of Fairhaven; grandchildren, Jessica, Scott, and Jason; great grandchildren, River, Rider, and Chase; her niece that was more like a daughter, Pam Swaye and her sons, Joshua and Benjamin Swaye; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Omer Coulombe, Ray Coulombe, Rita Valliere, Theresa Hudgnis, and Claire Gallagher.

Lauretta’s Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2020 at 11:00AM in the ROCK FUENRAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation prior, from 9:00 to 11:00AM. To leave a note of condolence: www.rock-funeralhome.com.

The sweetest woman ever! She would do anything for you, great cook, always smiling, so gentle, would always make you laugh. She was the best! She was a wonderful part of my life. I am so happy to have such great memories of her. My sympathies to Bob, Bruce, Pam and families.
