

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Honorian and Marie Louise (LaFrance) Nolan, she was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mrs. Masse was a graduate of St. Anthony High School and Kinyon Campbell Business School.
Laurette was a former communicant of St. Joseph Church, a member of the Acushnet Jolly Seniors, Strong Woman’s Club, Royal Travelers and a Boy Scout Den mother. She enjoyed gardening, birding, and watching old tv programs. Most important was spending time with her family, friends, and neighbors. She enjoyed listening to classical music, spending holidays and special events with family, long country drives, visits to the seashore, and playing cards in the evenings.
Laurette loved her caregivers provided by Attentive Home Care, especially Luisa. They treated her with love, respect, and professionalism for years. Her final days were at Alden Court Rehabilitation, which she referred to as a high-end hotel and where she was treated with dignity and kindness.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her family includes five children, Eugene Masse and wife Doreen of E. Freetown, Michael Masse and wife Donna of E. Freetown, Celeste Dupuis and husband Nelson of Brookfield, Louise Croteau and husband Roland of Acushnet and James Masse and wife Melissa of New Bedford; twelve grandchildren, Christopher Masse and wife Megan, Andrew Masse and wife Kathleen McNally, Maureen Masse, Lauren Masse and companion Ron Lecuyer, Barbara Bergeron and husband Tom, Holly Dupuis and husband Zachary Quay-de-la-Vallee, Daniel Croteau and fiancee’ Sarah DeNucci, Matthew Croteau and wife Colleen, Adam Croteau and wife Paris Lee Croteau Lopez, Kathy Firsch, Ashley Firsch, and Thomas Masse and fiancee’ Carissa Tuttle; six great grandchildren, Olivia Masse, Logan Lecuyer, Tyler Lecuyer, Owen Bergeron, Kyle Bergeron and Cordelia Masse; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Jean Nolan, Albertine Kulmacz, Bernard Nolan and Louis Nolan.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 9-10:30am in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Funeral Mass at 11am in St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford.
