Leah (Richard) Bauer

Born in Acushnet, a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Augustine (Poirier) Richard, she had resided in Acushnet all of her life before moving to Fairhaven 6 months ago.

She was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School and worked as an inspector for Aerovox for many years until her retirement.

Mrs. Bauer enjoyed sewing, reading, playing Bingo and was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Parish.

Survivors include her son, Richard R. Bauer and his wife Janet of Acushnet; her sister, Marguerite Baylies and her husband Richard of California; two grandchildren, Aaron Bauer of Acushnet and Jacob Bauer and his companion Kimberly Westgate of Dartmouth; two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Kyle; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Paul, Roger, Maurice, Roland and Leo Richard.

Her Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 10am in St. Francis Xavier Parish, 125 Main St., Acushnet. Burial will be in Acushnet Cemetery.
