

Leo P. Rousseau, a lifelong resident of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away on October 27, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on June 1, 1936, Leo was the beloved son of the late Louis and Lucy (Deslauriers) Rousseau.
Leo proudly served in the naval reserves for eight years and had a distinguished career with New England Telephone. He began his career as a janitor and, through hard work and dedication, retired as a central office repairman.
He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia M. (Racine) Rousseau, who passed away in June 2025. They shared 56 years of marriage. Leo is survived by his children, Andrea Rousseau, Leo P. Rousseau, Jr. and his wife Tracy, and Christopher Rousseau. He was a devoted grandfather to Tyler and Shelby Rousseau. Leo is also remembered by his best friend, Tony Enos, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his siblings, Claire and Gerard Rousseau.
Leo was a man of many interests. He enjoyed trips to Florida, cruises, and camping. Known as a "car guy," he also took pleasure in drinking Moxie soda, cutting his grass, telling jokes, and dancing the jitterbug. Extremely likeable, Leo had a magnetic personality that drew everyone to him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, located at 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd, New Bedford, on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 559 Mt. Pleasant St, New Bedford.
