Leon E. Gauthier

Leon E. Gauthier, 79, of Dartmouth, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a long illness. He was the husband of Evelyn (Couto) Gauthier with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.

Born in Fairhaven, a son of the late George E. and Mary V. (Roulet) Gauthier, he was a lifelong resident of Dartmouth and a graduate of Dartmouth High School, class of 1949.

Mr. Gauthier proudly served his country in the United States Army.

He worked as a truck driver at Tavano Trucking Company until his retirement and then worked as a security guard for 10 years.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Deborah Sainsbury and husband Bill of Florida and Donna Lefrancois and husband Scott of Berkley; three grandchildren, Danielle Brown and husband Dan, and Erin and Zachary Lefrancois; and two great-grandchildren, Abigail and Jacob Brown.

His Funeral will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 9am from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford with a Funeral Mass at 10am in St. George Church, 12 Highland Ave., Westport. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8pm. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Dartmouth.
