Leonard Almeida

Leonard “Lenny” Almeida, age 69, of New Bedford, passed away at St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River after a brief illness surrounded by those who loved him most. He was the husband of Bradford J. Medeiros, to whom he was partners with for nearly 30 years.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Daniel R. and Joan (Simmons) Almeida, he has been a lifelong area resident. Lenny was employed with the Acushnet Company for 42 years until his retirement in 2022. He enjoyed cooking, playing darts with family and friends, and most of all gardening and tending to his plants which was a testament to his nurturing soul.

In addition to his husband Brad, Lenny is survived by his son Ryan Medeiros and his wife Carrie; sister in-law Phyllis Balestracci and her husband Paul; and brother in-law James A. Medeiros.

His family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate his life. His visitation will be held, on Tuesday August 5, 2025, from 10-11:30am at Rock Funeral Home 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford

followed by his graveside service at 12pm where he will be laid to rest in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford.
