

Leonard James Medeiros, 87 passed away suddenly on Saturday September 27th 2025 surrounded by family. Len was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts in 1938 to James and Angelina Medeiros. He lived in the greater New Bedford area for a large part of his life, moving to Mooresville, NC in retirement.
He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and spent most of his life driving large trucks and heavy equipment and eventually retired from J.F. White in 2002.
His greatest joys were his loving wife Beverly and the births of his children and grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan and a lifelong Red Sox, Celtics and New York Giants fan, even throughout the rough years. He was also a longtime member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary club in Fairhaven. Len very much enjoyed traveling in his RV's, taking many family trips all around New England in the early days, where four children in a small R.V. tested both his patience and his driving abilities. He and Bev also took many trips to Nascar races, which was another thing he really enjoyed. Later in life he and Bev would travel to Grassy Key, FL during the winters where he made many memories and friends.
Len was preceded in death by his parents, James and Angelina, his brother Alvaro Medeiros, his son James (Jim) Medeiros and his grandson Christopher Medeiros.
He is survived by his son Bryan Medeiros (Sheryl), daughter Cheryl (Brad) Mosley, daughter Beth (Jason) Gartner, daughter Sharon (Eric) Kucia, son Keith (Kim McLaughlin) Medeiros and his daughter-in-law Lisa Donnelly. He is also survived by his grandchildren Alexandra Kennedy, Peyton Rapoza, Madeline Mosley, James Mosley, Zachery Gartner, Jessica (Alex) Strand, Grace Gartner, James Medeiros and Caleb Medeiros and his one great-grandchild Rowan Strand.
There will be a funeral at 11:00 on Friday October 10, 2025 at St. Joseph's Church, Spring St., Fairhaven, MA. The family will be receiving people prior to the funeral service at the church starting at 10:00. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Fairhaven. There will also be a reception following at Merrill's on the Waterfront at 36 Homer's Wharf in New Bedford.
