Born in New Bedford, MA, she was the daughter of the late Emile and Cecile (Racette) Duval. She attended local schools, entering the workforce after graduating from Campbell’s Secretarial School. Working as a “Floor Lady” at the Fairhaven Pocket Book Manufacturing Co., she met her husband, the late Francois L. “Frank” Bouchard through his good friend Rene Bernard, her best friend and sister, Loretta’s husband.
Lillian and Frank Bouchard were married on May 30, 1936, and within the year, started a family, eventually having seven children. Lillian was a stay-at-home mother, indispensable helpmate to her husband and warm confidant and supporter to a legion of relatives and friends. When needed, she was always there with advice or a comforting shoulder and sympathetic ear. A woman of boundless energy, Lillian was both athletic and intellectual in nature. She loved to swim and was an avid tennis, badminton and ping pong player well into her nineties, always eager to give grand and great-grand children a lesson or two at the net. A devout Catholic, she was an active parishioner of St. Joseph-St. Therese Catholic Church, where she served as a lector and Eucharistic minister, and taught religious education to school-aged students.
Lillian and her husband lived in New Bedford’s North End until moving to the family farm in North Dartmouth in the early seventies. She lived there until moving to Bonanza to live with her daughter, Carole Pisarczyk Fisher (Robert), and son, John Bouchard, in 2011.
In addition to Carole and John, she is survived by her youngest sister, Dorothy O’Grady of San Jose, CA; sons Ronald F. of Stroudsburg, PA and Frank, Jr. (Audrey) of Westport, MA; daughters Claudette Vieira and Lillianne; grandchildren Sarah Monarch, Kathryn Bakker, Ronald Bouchard, Jr.; Peter Pisarczyk , Stefanie Pisarczyk-Spindell, Alexander Pisarczyk; Sondra Dias and Frank Bouchard, III; Jonathan Vieira, and fourteen great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Francois, an infant son, Daniel, and grandson, Daniel Vieira.
A visitation and rosary will be held on Sunday, May 18th from 6-8 PM at Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Joseph-Therese Church, New Bedford, on May 19th at 10:00 A.M. followed by a burial service at Sacred Heart Cemetery and reception. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Lillian Bouchard’s name to a hospice of your choice.
