Linda Ann Dupont passed peacefully on Thursday, January 1, 2026. She was born on January 6, 1963 in New Bedford to Luisa and Manuel Viveiros. She graduated from New Bedford High School, and completed a certificate program at Bristol Community College for Medical Billing and Coding. She was married to Daniel Dupont in 1987, and cherished over 40 years of love, laughter, romance and friendship. Together, Linda and Daniel have 2 children: Megan and Seth.
Linda had a deep passion for cooking, gardening, dancing, hosting holiday parties, and crafting. She belonged to several online support groups for artisans and small business owners, learning new tricks and skills until the very end of her life.
Linda was an animal lover. She enjoyed the company of dozens of dogs, including a full pack of Rottweilers, Boxers, and German Shepherds over the years. Her all-time favorites were dol-a-phins, though.
She collected neighborhood children like some people collect strays. Everyone who came into her home called her mom, and she made sure they were all fed and happy. Her favorite saying, “If you leave my house hungry, it’s YOUR fault!”
She was proud of her Portuguese heritage and often bragged about being a first generation citizen, “Right off the boat!” She loved making delicious Portuguese food like kale soup, Portuguese sweet bread and rice pudding. She shared that culture with her children, and anyone she could convince to attend her father’s Senhor de Padra feast in New Bedford.
Linda was further blessed with 5 grandchildren: Paetyn Siegal (P2), Patrick Reynolds, Jackson Reynolds, Theodore Dupont (Theo), and Amelia Dupont (Millie). She loved watching their school concerts, hearing about their various clubs and sports teams, and watching them create chaos with their toys, crayons, snacks, drinks, you name it. She would always make sure the children had a safe place to explore and absolutely refused to let anyone clean up while they were still playing! A messy floor is a sign of happy kids!
She was a devoted Catholic. Even when she was physically unable to attend mass in person, she’d watch on television every Sunday. She encouraged her granddaughter, Paetyn, to pursue her faith and would always know which saint to pray to when you lost your car keys, or had a problem you were seeking advice for.
Linda was deeply patriotic, supporting her husband’s 30+ year military career. She was president of the Family Readiness Group during Dan’s time as Battalion Commander of the 101st Field Artillery Battalion. She spent countless hours speaking to servicemen and women’s spouses and children offering kind words and organizing care packages for our troops overseas.
She raised her children to be generous, kind, and respectful. She’d often say she'd give you the shirt off of her back if you were in need. This spirit didn’t end with her passing, either. She was able to provide 2 future families with the gift of sight, donating her corneas after her passing, in honor of her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers: We are asking for donations to the Tiny Transplant Titan charity group. They specialize in raising funds, awareness, research and other resources to families of children in need of organ donation.
