Born in New Bedford, she was the beloved daughter of the late Manuel and Ernestine (Avila) Mello. Linda was a graduate of Apponequet Regional High School and earned her nursing degree from Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School. She dedicated 50 years of service as a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Luke's Hospital, where she was known for her compassion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to her patients and colleagues.
Linda lived life with a joyful spirit and an open heart. She enjoyed trips to the casinos, playing cards, crocheting, and creating beautiful gift baskets for every occasion. She delighted in dressing up in costumes to bring smiles to children and loved making special memories with family and friends.
Family meant everything to Linda. She especially cherished the time she spent with her niece and nephews, who brought her great joy. A social butterfly by nature, Linda never met a stranger. Whether she knew someone for years or had just met them, she always stopped to talk, share a laugh, or offer a helping hand. Her generosity was boundless, and she was constantly doing for others, often putting their needs before her own.
A natural jokester, Linda's sense of humor was legendary. Voted "Class Clown" in high school, she carried that title proudly throughout her life. Her infectious laugh and playful personality brightened every room she entered. While cooking was not among her favorite activities, she gladly prepared meals for her beloved fur babies, Buttons, Bows, and Scruffy, who held a special place in her heart.
As a longtime third-shift employee at St. Luke's Hospital, Linda's desk became a favorite gathering place and social hub for her co-workers, creating countless memories filled with laughter, friendship, and various treats.
She is survived by her loving brother, Timothy M. Mello and his wife, Angela, of East Freetown; her sister, Jane Hanrahan and her husband, Steve, of Lakeville; her niece, Rebecca Mello of Dartmouth; her nephews, Christopher Mello of New Bedford and Isaac Pierce.
In addition to her parents, Linda was predeceased by her nephew, Aaron Pierce.
Linda's kindness, generosity, humor, and love for family touched countless lives. Her infectious laugh, warm heart, and ability to make everyone feel welcome will be remembered always and missed beyond measure.
