

Lorretta (Langevin) Hevey, 84, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, after a period of declining health. She was born and raised in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Wilfred and Alexina Langevin. She was the beloved wife of Joseph Hevey, with whom she shared sixty-one beautiful years of marriage. She was predeceased by her cousin and best friend, Vivian Silva, who was more like a sister.
Lorretta lived most of her life in New Bedford, where she was educated and met the love of her life, Joseph Hevey. They were married in 1964 at St Anthony's Catholic Church, and they were lifelong parishioners of strong faith in several catholic churches in the New Bedford area. Together they raised their two sons Donald and John, they briefly moved the family to Somerville, MA but returned to New Bedford after missing extended family.
Lorretta was a kind and compassionate lady who loved every minute of raising her two boys, attending all their sports activities and events. Over the years Joe and Lorretta also welcomed numerous foster children into their home, making a huge positive impact on many lives. She loved children and felt truly blessed when her family grew with grandchildren. She was a proud and generous Memere and loved hearing updates of the grandkid’s travels, careers, and adventures.
Lorretta was a passionate Patriots, Celtics and Red Sox fan, watching every game that she could. She was a true lover of nature, especially birds. She loved all genres of music, but country was her favorite. She also loved to shop on QVC Network.
In addition to her husband, Lorretta is survived by her son Donald and his wife Tami of Medway, MA and their three children Matthew Hevey of Bellingham, MA, Megan Hevey of Centennial, CO, Michael Hevey of Brighton, MA. She is also survived by her son John Hevey of New Bedford. Additionally, she leaves behind her grandson, Kyle Hevey. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:30 AM in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, followed by her funeral mass in St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private.
