

Lynne E. (White) Viens, a life-long resident of Acushnet, a beloved, hard-working, selfless, and kind-hearted woman, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the age of 69. Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Donald W. and Joan L. (Robinson) White. Lynne was a graduate of New Bedford High School she initially worked in the health care field where she was employed by St. Lukes Hospital and Jewish Convalescence home as a Nurses Aid where she enjoyed the opportunity to help others and was loved by her patients, she later worked at the cafeteria of Polaroid in New Bedford, where she always greeted her customers and colleagues with a warm smile.
Lynne was married to John Viens for 39 years, and he was the love of her life. Spending time with her family was of utmost importance to her. She enjoyed cooking, playing golf, caring for her beautiful property with it’s many flowers gardens. While the sport of golf was introduced to Lynne by John, she proved a quick study, and it is Lynne who amassed two hole in one’s during her playing days’. Lynne was an active member of Heritage Hill Golf Club where she and John made many friendships and developed some life-long relationships with great people. Lynne truly enjoyed the social aspect of golf enjoying the ability to compete, support her teammates, and make as many people laugh as she could with her sharp wit and self-deprecating humor. Lynne was a very compassionate person and had a natural ability to genuinely listen and be sympathetic to the challenges of others.
Lynne lived with Alzheimer’s in the later stage of her life and fought hard to continue to do things she enjoyed with the people she loved. She was always grateful for the great care she received and the many visits from caring family and friends.
In addition to her husband, John, Lynne is survived by her loving children, Ross Acucena of Groton, MA and Kurt Acucena of Lakeville, MA; sisters, Gayla White, Donna Courtamanche ; brother, Gary White; grandchildren, Leah, Caleb, Brody, Liam, Gabrielle, Silas, and Julia and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. A service for Lynne will be held Acushnet-Wesley United Methodist Church, 67 Main St. Acushnet, MA on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 11:00 am. A private burial will take place at a later date.
