Malvina Gonsalves

Malvina (Pereira) Gonsalves, age 85, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Care One at New Bedford, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Manuel Gonsalves, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage.

Born in St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Mariano and Patricia Pereira.

Malvina worked for Elco Dress Manufacturer for many years as a Stitcher. She enjoyed her job, but leaving to help take care and raise her grandchildren was more important. Spending time with her family and friends was very special. She loved spending time at the casino, buying scratch tickets, watching all her favorite game shows, and a hot cup of coffee with donuts at Ma’s Donuts. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday, and she enjoyed Sundays spent with her best friends, Evelyn and Viriato at Burger King, and all the car rides by Southend Beach eating ice cream from Dairy Made with her husband will be deeply missed.

In addition to her loving husband, Manuel, she is survived by her two daughters, Rosemary Motta and her late husband John of New Bedford, and Diane Gonsalves of New Bedford; three grandchildren, Joshua Mota of FL, Tiffany Silva and her husband Jason of Somerset, and Jessica Nazare and her partner Brandon Burroughs of TX; two great-grandchildren, Kaleb Burroughs and Noah Silva; her sister, Fatima Gaipo of New Bedford, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Deodato and Eduino Pereira.

Her Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 11:00AM at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford, MA 02745.
