

Manuel Cabral Teixeira, 95 of New Bedford MA, passed away August 20, 2023, in New Bedford. He died peacefully in his sleep, after a brief illness. He was the beloved spouse of the late Germana P. Teixeira with whom he shared 70 years of marriage. He was born in Feteira Pequena, in Sao Miguel Acores, son of the late Joao Cabral Barbosa and Maria Jose Duarte Barbosa.
He is survived by his five daughters, Fatima Rocha and husband Jose Rocha (New Bedford) Ildeberta Feiteira and her late husband John Feiteira (Dartmouth) Germana (Geri) Rodrigues and husband Tony Rodrigues (Dartmouth) Maria Lucy and husband Charlie Rodrigues (Acushnet) and Marina Caesar (Marion) 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother Jermias Teixeira of New Bedford. He was the brother of the late Ildeberta Rocha, Antonio Cabral and Jose Barbosa.
He immigrated with his spouse and daughters from Sao Miguel in 1968 to the U.S. to pursue a better life for his family. He lived in New Bedford Massachusetts where he was a devoted employee at Chamberlain Manufacturing until his retirement.
While living in the Acores, he was a dairy farmer and had a lifelong love of animals. As a young man he was an avid soccer player and swimmer in the beautiful island of Sao Miguel. This love of soccer continued throughout his life. His fondness for a great story led him to become involved and perform in a Portuguese historical play called “Dona Ines de Castro”. During his retirement years, he ran a small finch business from a shop in his basement.
Above all, his greatest love was his wife and family. He took great pride and joy in every single one of his daughters and his grandchildren. He was a devoted catholic with an immense love for God, the catholic religion and his church, Our Lady of Immaculate Conception.

His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 9:00AM in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle Street, New Bedford.
