Manuel Vieira

A lifelong New Bedford resident, Manuel was the son of the late Manuel Vieira Sr. and Ludvina (Gouveira) Vieira.

Mr. Vieira worked as a slasher/tender in the local textile mills until his retirement. He was an avid fan of the Giants and the Yankees. He enjoyed golf and played semi-pro football in his youth.

Survivors in addition to his wife are two sons, Jackie M. Vieira and his wife Cheryl of Mashpee; Steven Vieira and his wife Regina of Taunton; six grandchildren, Jason, Nicholas and Cameron Vieira, Cindy Rosenthal and her husband Ignacio, Theresa Montalvo and Kathleen Palma, nine Step children, Normand Bessette of CT, Maurice Bessette of NC, Rachel Taveira and her husband Arthur of New Bedford, Joseph Bessette of New Bedford, Donna Wynne and her husband John of NH, Jeannine Mello and her husband Barry of New Bedford, Marc Bessette and his wife Brenda of New Bedford, Michelle Sauveè and her husband Billy of New Bedford, and Renèe Fournier and her husband Rick of New Bedford.

His funeral will be held Monday, July 23, 2012 at 9am at the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at St Joseph- St Therese Church, Acushnet Ave, New Bedford. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 4-6pm. Burial in St Mary’s Cemetery.
