Marcelle M. (Marcotte) Lareau, 94, went to meet our Lord on Tuesday October 27, 2020. She was the loving wife of Marcel P. Lareau, married 56 years and devoted daughter of the late Ernest and Eva Marcotte.
She was a lifelong resident of New Bedford and a graduate of New Bedford High School. Marcelle wholeheartedly dedicated her life to raising her five children while awaiting her husband, the love of her life to return home from sea. As an example to their children & grandchildren, Marcelle and her husband strongly believed it most important to take time to be a couple and enjoy each other’s company. Family was most important to her. One of Marcelle’s greatest joys as a mother, grandmother and great grandmother was walking them down the journey of her life and family’s history. A devout Roman Catholic, her faith in God had no boundaries. You would be sure to see Marcelle everyday at Mass and be greeted by her radiant smile and loving energy. Marcelle was a gentle spirit with a sunny personality who always had a kind and encouraging word to brighten someone’s day.
She was a member of the Legion of Mary. The 3rd Lay Order of St.
Francis.
