

She was the wife of the late James J. Canavan.
Born in Glenamaddy, County Galway, Ireland, a daughter of the late Patrick and Mary (Hussey) Gannon, she resided in Cambridge before moving to the New Bedford area 30 years ago.
Margaret worked inside and outside the home throughout her life, including the cafeterias of the Cambridge School Department, until her retirement. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed knitting, reading and traveling.
She is survived by her children John Canavan of Melrose; Rosemary Sullivan and her husband William of New Bedford; Eileen Canavan of New Bedford; James Canavan of San Diego; Stephen Canavan of Bedford; Michael Canavan and his wife Marilyn of Somerville; Richard Canavan of Somerville; Paul Canavan and his wife Wendy of Key Largo, FL; 3 grandchildren, Eileen Sullivan, Kevin and Maura Canavan, 3 sisters, Ellen Dunne of Boston; Sarah Daly and her husband Frank of Newton; Bridget Brennan of Ireland and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Maureen Cronin, Michael, Patrick, Luke, William and John Gannon.
Her Funeral will be held Monday, February 11, 2013 at 9 am at the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford, followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 am at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, 4256 Acushnet Avenue, New Bedford.
