Margaret J. Gaumont

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Hervey and Margaret “Peggy” (Finerall-Smith) Gaudette she was a lifelong resident of the city and a communicant of St. Joseph-St. Therese Church, New Bedford.

Mrs. Gaumont worked for Sacred Heart Nursing Home in the cafeteria before her retirement. She loved to play BINGO and cards.

Margaret’s family would like to thank the staff at Hathaway Manor for the wonderful care given to their beloved.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Carol Nelson and her husband Robert and Diane Leal and her husband Robert all of New Bedford; two sons, Robert Gaumont and his wife Cathy Maccini of Dartmouth and Gary Gaumont and his wife Karen of Hyannis; grandchildren, Amanda, Meghan and Amy Leal, Robert Nelson, III, and Laura and Grace Gaumont; one great grandson, Jameson Nelson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Roger H. Gaumont.

Her funeral will be Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 9 a.m. from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a funeral mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph-St. Therese Church, Acushnet Ave., New Bedford.
