Maria L. Barbosa

Born in Ribeira Seca, Ribeira Grande, Azores, Maria was the cherished daughter of the late Joao and Lurdes (Alves) Medeiros. She worked for many years as a piece worker on the assembly line at Jodie's Sportswear.

A simple woman with a strong faith, Maria found joy in gardening, cooking, and, most of all, spending time with her family and grandchildren, who were her greatest treasures. She honored family values and traditions, loved being a homebody, and always placed her family as her first and only priority.

Maria was married to her late husband, Deonildo Barbosa, for 31 years. She is survived by her devoted son, Roy Barboza, and his wife Maria of Dartmouth; her beloved grandchildren, Avery and Trent Barboza of Dartmouth; and her sister, Lurdes Felix of Canada. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Maria was preceded in death by her siblings, Manuel Medeiros, Maria Moureira, Odilia Furtado, Jose Medeiros, Joao Luis Medeiros, Antonio Medeiros, and Laurenio Medeiros.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. from ROCK FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745.
