Maria C. De Medeiros

Maria C. (Da Ponte Cordeiro) De Medeiros, age 82 of Acushnet passed away peacefully, Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Alden Court Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Jose De Medeiros with whom she shared 47 years of marriage.

Born in St. Michael, Azores, the daughter of the late Jose DaPonte Cordeiro, Jr. and Angelina (Amaral) Cordeiro, she immigrated to the United States in 1965 and lived in New Bedford most of her life until recently moving to Acushnet.

Maria enjoyed being a homemaker and was a real estate investor.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her 2 daughters, Elizabeth De Medeiros of Dartmouth; Lucia Rogers and her husband Steven of New Bedford; her sister, Maria De Jesus and her husband James of Benicia, CA; 6 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Jose, Mariano, Alberto Cordeiro and Gil Da Ponte.

Her Funeral will be held Monday, September 23, 2013 at 9am at the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford, MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle Street, New Bedford, MA.
