Maria C. Faria

Maria was born in Sao Miguel, Portugal, and was the daughter of the late Antonio and Mercedes (Balanca) Pacheco. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose B. Faria, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage.

Maria dedicated much of her life to caring for others, particularly children, in the comfort of her home. As a certified nanny, she lovingly took care of children of all ages, treating them as if they were her own. Her compassion and nurturing spirit extended beyond her work; Maria was a warm and loving person with a heart of gold, deeply invested in her family and community.

In addition to her work as a nanny, Maria had many passions. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, and crocheting. Maria found joy in the simple things, whether it was spending time at the beach, farming, or taking care of animals. Family was her greatest treasure, and she cherished every moment with her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.

Maria is survived by her loving children, Kathy Cardoso and her fiancé Lino of New Bedford, and Antonio Faria and his girlfriend Susan of Acushnet. She was a proud grandmother to Robert Tetreault of New Bedford and great-grandmother to Aurea Tetreault of New Bedford. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Maria was predeceased by her siblings: Irene Vieira, Alice Ferro, Dora DeMello, Antonio Pacheco, and Agnes Amaral.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 9:00 AM from Rock Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
