

Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, the daughter of the late Abilio Cabral Pereira and Maria Duarte Medeiros, she came to the United States in 1971.
Mrs. Picaro had worked as a stitcher until her retirement.
She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the apples of her eye.
Her family includes two daughters, Adelia DeMelo and her husband Antonio of Dartmouth and Phoebe Pimentel and her husband Emanuel of Dartmouth; three sons, Eusebio Picaro and his wife Susan of Westport, Joseph Picaro and his wife Lynne of NC and Mario Picaro and his significant other Marlene Swift of Swansea; a brother, Adolfo Cabral and his wife Maria of Canada; a sister-in-law, Gabriela Cabral of Canada; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Fernando Cabral.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Maria will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, 136 Earle St, New Bedford, MA 02746. Relatives and friends are invited.
