Mary Gula

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Bento and Mary (Cabral) Moniz, she had resided in Fairhaven for the past 60 years.

Mrs. Gula had worked as a winder for the New Bedford Thread Company. Mary had a sweet tooth and enjoyed making puzzles, traveling and the company of her loving grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Katherine Alcobia and her husband Ricardo of New Bedford, Patricia Robert and her husband Richard of E. Freetown, Janice Powers and her husband Richard of Fairhaven, John Gula and his wife Kristen of Easton and Susan Lally and her husband Mark of Dartmouth; her grandchildren, Stacy Breton, Jared Lally, Sarah Raposo, Hannah Powers, Haley Gula, and Jacob Gula; her great-grandchildren, Bethany Souza and Uriah Raposo; her sisters, Tina Marshall, Eva Dion and Dolores Texeira and her husband Tony; and many nieces and nephews.

Her visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 from 10am-12pm with a funeral service at 12pm in the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
