

Born in New Bedford, he was the son of Suzanne M. (Pelletier) Rebeiro and Antonio S. Magalhaes.
Matthew was a graduate of Apponequet Regional High School, class of 2005, received a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from U-Mass Dartmouth in 2009 and a Master’s degree in Systems Engineering from the Naval Post Graduate School in 2014.
He had a successful career as an Engineer working for the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport for the past 15 years.
Matthew loved all things Disney and enjoyed yearly vacations to the park. He also enjoyed the outdoors, playing volleyball, paddle boarding, jet skiing and kayaking. While at Apponequet, he was an exceptional track star and was named Track and Field Athlete of the year in his senior year. Matt still holds several school records. He was an avid fan of all New England sports teams, especially the Boston Bruins. He was also an animal lover who will be missed by his dog & constant companion, Brady.
Matthew was thoughtful, caring and generous to his many friends and especially his family and would do anything for anybody.
Surviving in addition to his parents is a brother, Jeffrey Magalhaes; a sister-in-law, Christina Fucci; step-siblings, Michael Reiniche, Melanie Sullivan and David Rebeiro, Jr.; his niece and nephew, Skylar and Benjamin Magalhaes; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
His Funeral Mass will be held on June 27, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Neumann Church, 157 Middleboro Rd., E. Freetown, MA. Burial is private.
