Michael J. Fernandes

Born in New Bedford, a son of the late John and Mary (Freitas) Fernandes he was a lifelong area resident.

Michael loved horses and his wonderful sisters. He was an avid Red Sox fan who will be remembered as a real “funny guy”.

He is survived by two sisters, Dolores Goulart and her husband Manuel of Acushnet and Patricia Vicente and her loving companion Art Leister of Mattapoisett; nieces and nephews, Karen Canastra, Michael Goulart, Jeffrey Goulart and Sherri Goulart; and several great nieces and nephews.

He was the great uncle of the late Cameron Goulart.

The family would like to thank the staff of Seven Hill Community Services, Brockton Area Multi Services, Inc., and the Department of Developmental Services for all their loving care and support over the years.

His funeral will be Saturday at 8 a.m. from the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a funeral mass at 9 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Spring St., Fairhaven.
