Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Rene W. and Irene (Picard) Phaneuf he was a lifelong area resident.
Mike worked as a facility manager until his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed motorcycles, cars, fishing, camping, bicycling, and working in his yard. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Chad Manchester and Katelyn Manchester; grandchildren, Aiden, Anthony, and Kyrie; brother-in-laws, Kevin Mello all of Acushnet, and Eugene Fleurent of Florida, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Janice Fleurent, and brother-in-law of the late Richard Mello, Jr.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 10, 2025 at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Church, Main St., Acushnet. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Main St., Fairhaven. Visitation will be Thursday 5-7 p.m. in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745.
