Born in Santa Maria, Azores, he was the son of the late Manuel and Joaquina (Puim) Andrade.
Miguel proudly served his country in the Armed Forces during The Portuguese Colonial War. He came to the United States in 1971 and became a United States citizen in 1981.
He worked for Metro Boston Construction for many years. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, dominoes, spending time with family and friends and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the St. Michael’s Club, Whaling City Club, Madeira Club and the Holy Ghost of Bridgewater.
He is survived by two sons; Michael B. Andrade and his wife Victoria of New Bedford, Manuel B. Andrade and his wife Melissa of New Bedford, his former wife Jesuina Maria Andrade, six grandchildren; Christopher, Tiana, Tyler, Trevor, Mason Andrade and James Fredericks, two sisters Virginia Moura of Azores, Emilia Pinheiro of California, two brothers Bernardino Andrade of Canada, Manuel Andrade of Azores, numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren. He was predeceased by his siblings; Maria Vicente, Antonio Andrade and Jose Andrade.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 at10 am at Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle Street, New Bedford. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-8pm. Arrangements are in the care of the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
