Born in Acushnet, a daughter of the Anthony and Ruth (Gurney) Nering she was a lifelong Acushnet resident. She was a former communicant of St. Francis Xavier Parish as well as St. Mary’s Church, New Bedford.
Mrs. McCoy graduated from New Bedford High School in 1949. She worked in auto claims with Copper & Cornish Insurance Agency for 30 years before retiring in 1991.
Mim was the past president of St. Mary’s Women’s Guild, a board member of the Catholic Women’s Club, St. Vincent de Paul, a Girl Scout leader in Acushnet, a piano teacher, a WHALE member and in her spare time she loved spending time at the cottage on Long Pond and spending time with family.
She is survived by three children Barbara Jean Stiles and her husband Thomas of Acushnet, Kathleen Warren and her husband Stanley of Marston Mills, Patricia Sparrow and her husband Edward of Norfolk; seven grandchildren, Erin McFarlane of Cumberland, RI, Jeremiah Sparrow of Attleboro, Kevin Sparrow of Johnston, RI; Andrew Fleisch of Marstons Mills, Timothy Warren of Eugene, OR, Sean Warren of Fernley, NV, and Joshua Warren Fort Lauderdale, FL; one great grandson, David McFarlane; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four siblings.
Due to restrictions on public gatherings, her services are private and under the direction of ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
