Norberto Alexandre, 76, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of May 24th at his home, surrounded by the love and comfort of his devoted family. He was the beloved husband of Odete M. Martins Coelho Alexandre, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Born in Ribeira Quente São Miguel Island, Portugal. Norberto was the cherished son of the late Antonio Alexandre and Mercedes De Melo Cabral. He spent his early years in Portugal before immigrating to the United States, where he built a beautiful life rooted in hard work, family, and love.
He worked as a dedicated landscaper for over half his life at Heritage Museums and Gardens, a place where his love of nature flourished. Norberto was a man who radiated joy in social settings, always happiest when surrounded by family and friends, especially his dear wife Odete Alexandre.
He was the proud and loving father of three daughters: Nelia Raposo and her husband Antonio of Dartmouth, Odette deUtra and her husband Shawn of New Bedford, and Cristina Fernandes and her husband Paul of Acushnet, who were the lights of his life. His legacy continues through his nine grandchildren: Kaurin Telfair, Jordan Raposo, Hailie deUtra, Kassidy Raposo, Taeya Telfair, Ava Fernandes, Aiden Raposo, Evan Fernandes, and Matteo deUtra. His love extended even further to his four great-grandchildren: Jayce Raposo, Ariyah Raposo, Tatum Veronica, and Haven Turgeon, who brought him endless joy and pride. Also survived by his one sister, Maria Conceicao Cabral Alexandre Braga of Toronto, Canada, and several nieces and nephews.
Norberto had a passion for gardening, something he practiced with care and love. When he wasn’t out in the garden he enjoyed watching Benfica with his wife. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. His consistent presence is deeply missed, but his memory lives on as a lasting source of love.
