Patricia M. (Racine) Rousseau, a beloved, devoted, and kind-hearted resident of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away on June 26, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on January 31, 1945, in New Bedford, Patricia was the daughter of the late Joseph Roland A. Racine Sr. and the late Pearl (Barrett) Racine.
Patricia was a graduate of Holy Family High School. She dedicated over 15 years of her career as a Teacher's Aide for the New Bedford School Department, working with children with special needs. Her passion for helping others was evident in her work and personal life.
She was married to the love of her life, Leo Rousseau, for 56 years. Patricia enjoyed camping, traveling to Florida, going on cruises, and visiting Horseneck Beach. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Patricia loved attending the Zeiterion Theater with her cousin Carol and sailing with Uncle Charlie on their many adventures. In her younger years, she raised chickens and took great pleasure in riding and caring for her horse. Patricia always kept her back scratcher nearby, a small testament to her practical nature.
In addition to her husband Leo, Patricia is survived by her loving children, Leo Rousseau Jr. and his wife Tracy of Fall River, Andrea Rousseau of New Bedford, and Christopher Rousseau of New Bedford. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Tyler Rousseau of E. Providence and Shelby Rousseau of Brockton. Patricia is survived by her brother, Roland Racine of Berkley, and her sisters, Sandy of Florida, Linda and her husband Bob of Freetown, and Sylvia of New York, along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Cynthia Parker, her sister-in-law, Wendy Racine, and her Godmother, Doris Boucher, whom she loved dearly.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Rock Funeral Home, located at 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford, MA 02745. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford, Massachusetts. Everyone is to go directly to church.
