

Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Albert and Angelina (Belisle) Richard, he was a lifelong resident of New Bedford. Paul proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and later was the Director of Operations for George Mann and Company prior to his retirement.
Paul loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed sharing Sunday soup meals with his children, had a love for automobiles, watching military movies, eating anything sweet ,feeding the birds in his yard with the hope that a cardinal would visit. Paul and Doris traveled to Florida for many years after Paul’s retirement.In Paul’s younger years he would dabble in small business’ to provide for his family. He enjoyed going out on Saturday nights for dinner with Doris, Buzz and Joan and stopping in at the Rivers End café for his hand crafted Bloody Mary.
In addition to his wife Doris, he is survived by his children, Michael P. Richard and his wife Patricia of Acushnet, Kevin Richard and his wife Karen of Dartmouth, Kenneth M. Richard and his wife Debra of Acushnet and Karen L. Szwaja of New Bedford and his late son Mark A. Richard; a daughter in-law, Ann Richard of New Bedford; his grandchildren, Matthew, Brian, Jeffrey, Thomas, Jonathan, Melissa, Kristin, Zachary, Nicholas, Christopher,Michael and Rebecca; and twenty one great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Rita Sasseville, Ernest, Norman and Maurice Richard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 10:00AM at St. Gabriel the Arch Angel Church, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford, MA 02745. Relatives and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Wounded Warrior’s Project. Burial in Newport Memorial Park 123 Howland Avenue, Middletown, RI 02840.
