With great sorrow and bittersweet gratitude, the Dubois/Hubert family announce the passing of our kind, brave, caring, and unimaginably generous mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Pauline left us while sleeping peacefully at Alden Court Nursing Facility in Fairhaven on Sunday, February 4th. She was just 18 days shy of her 92nd birthday.
Born Pauline Marie Lucienne Hubert on February 22, 1932 in Acushnet, to the late Paul and Antoinette (Robitaille) Hubert. She was one of twelve children raised in a loving and caring home. They were a merry and lively bunch, thick as thieves and always ready for a great big family get together.
Pauline was the loving wife to the late Joseph H. Dubois, with whom she shared almost 60 years of marriage.
She worked for Acushnet Company for many years until retirement. She was a faithful communicant of St Mary's Church in New Bedford, volunteering her time at the Veterans Home. Pauline was a fun spirited soul who took to many passions. Card nights with her good friends at The Casey Miller apartments were a most enjoyable pastime. Gardening, knitting, crocheting, reading, and making puzzles brought her a sense of calming peace.
It was through Pauline and Joe's blood, sweat, tears, and pure determination that they were able to turn the humble abode on Crompton Street into a beautiful home filled with love and joy for their six children.
Those years together will always remain the best of memories for each and every one of their children. Most of all, she loved her family and instilled strong values in her sons and daughters that served them well.
Pauline was a strong woman whose main goal in life was to provide her children with a loving home of their own in which they could flourish and have a happy, healthy childhood in the country. It was with her undying love for her children that she remained their steadfast warrior. She accepted them for the individuals they were and not how the world may perceive them. Pauline was enormously proud of each and every one of them.
She is survived by sons David H. Dubois Sr., his wife Robin of Westport and Michael P. Dubois, his wife Lynne of Fairhaven, a daughter Michelle Dubois, and her wife Misty Reis of New Bedford. Her siblings, Annette Desrosiers of Fairhaven, Paul Hubert of Connecticut, Albert Hubert of Acushnet, and George Hubert of Fairhaven. Her grandchildren, Dr. Wendy Kinzler of New Jersey, David Dubois Jr. of Sharon, Amie Bourgeois of Fairhaven, Carie-Ann Grace of Fairhaven, Paul Dubois of Rhode Island, Justin Dubois of Marion, Jamie Dubreil of New Bedford, and Joshua Dubreil of Fall River. Her eleven great
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, including her godchild Madeleine Moniz. She was predeceased by her sons Raymond L. and Steven J. and daughter Florence Dubois; her siblings Alice Pepin, Theresa Dubois, Florence Arcouette, Bernadette Tetreault, Marie Dawson, Janice Koska, Robert Hubert, and two great grandchildren, Damien Steven and Alexandria Marie Dubois.
Pauline was strong-willed and stubborn at times but had an enormous heart and a wonderful sense of humor. She will be remembered for all the love she shared with her family and friends. Pauline truly loved each of them - and if you knew her, you knew it. When her time came, she carried herself with dignity and strength, and full of love for those who went before her. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Thank you, everyone, for your thoughts and prayers for Pauline and the Dubois/Hubert family!
