Rafaela Alvarado

Born in Aibonito,Puerto Rico on April 21st of 1935. She was the beloved daughter of Arcelia Avilés and Martín Alvarado. Rafaela is one of six children and survived by her sister Iris Sierra. Rafaela was married to Rodolfo Gonzalez (68 years), having six children Adrian, Ricardo, Aida, Yolanda, Lelis, and Zenaida. Outlasted by four children, 17 grandchildren, thirty nine great grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren. Excellent mother, good friend, great advisor and full of life. Enjoyed gatherings, and friends were very special to her. Awesome neighbor with a beautiful smile that will sparkle up a room even in her worst moments. Her faith: Roman Catholic converting to Christianity after, becoming a member at Missionary Church Of Christ Pastor Esaú Manso and currently same church, Pastor Angela Echevarría. Rafaela enjoyed praising the Lord and the Holy Spirit will always be with her. She had a great character and will always comfort others. Exemplary women that makes tribute to Proverbs 14:1

The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

We will always cherished her laughter, kindness and her unique way of loving others. We will always remember Rafaela. This is not a goodbye but a “see you soon”.

Visitation will be held at Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford, MA 02745, US, on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Burial will follow at Acushnet Cemetery, 91 Main St, Acushnet, MA 02743.
