

Raymond E. Gramlich III, age 42, of East Freetown died unexpectedly on Sunday March 1, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Ray was the devoted father of Sophia C., Raymond E. IV and Sean M. Gramlich of East Freetown, and the beloved son of Raymond E. Gramlich, Jr. and Susan J. (Cottuli) Gramlich also of East Freetown.
Ray was born in Boston, MA, and spent his youth in Freetown, where he attended the former Mullein Hill Baptist Church in Lakeville. He graduated from Friends Academy in Dartmouth, Class of 1987 and then from New Bedford High School in 1991. He is a member of the NBHS Gridiron Hall of Fame and also held several records in Track & Field. He attended Northeastern University before joining the family business where he worked as a Broker for Gramlich Insurance Agency for many years. He then went on to found Precision Air Systems Co. in New Bedford. Prior to returning to East Freetown a year ago, he lived in New Bedford for many years. He was a gifted artist and an avid sports enthusiast and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents and children, he leaves a sister, Laurie B. (Quintal) Parker and her husband James of Freetown; a brother J. Matthew Gramlich of Reunion, FL; and his former wife Rebecca “Becky” (Avila) Gramlich of East Freetown. He was also the grandson of Elizabeth A. Cottuli of New Bedford and the late Master Sgt. Raymond C. Cottuli. He also leaves several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00 am in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 3 to 7 pm. Relatives and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the R. Gramlich III Children’s’ Education Fund, c/o Bristol County Savings Bank, 1307 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. Burial will be private.
