

Raymond O. Pinette, age 70 of Acushnet, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2019 in St. Luke’s Hospital with his family by his side. He was the husband of Diana L. (Oliver) Pinette, to whom he shared 29 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Joseph O. and Yvonne B. (Houle) Pinette, he was a lifelong area resident. Raymond was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School class of 1961. He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Barry during the Vietnam Conflict. He was employed as a truck driver for TKN Transportation for over 33 years and was a longtime member of Teamsters Local 59.
Raymond loved his family, especially his grandchildren, enjoyed telling jokes, going to the casinos and spending time with his two Huskys. He was a very social person and was an avid New England Patriot’s fan, he loved woodworking when he could. He also loved butting heads with his sister in law Gale Bairos from Texas and as one family friend said “He was one hell of a guy”
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Shaun Pinette and his wife Ana of New Bedford, Corey Pinette of New Bedford, Lynn Pinette and her husband Daniel Thompson of Rochester, Christopher Newett of Fall River, Shannon Newett of New Bedford and Angela Newett and her companion Freddie Pelicas of New Bedford; one brother Paul Pinette of South Carolina and one niece. He was the father of the late Jeffrey and Joseph Newett.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 9:00AM from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis of Xavier, 125 Main Street, Acushnet. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation from 5:00 to 7:00PM with Naval Military Honors at 6:00PM. Burial is Private.
