Rene A. Pepin

Rene A. Pepin, 90, of Acushnet passed away Sunday, September 1, 2019 in CareOne at New Bedford surrounded by loved ones. He was the loving husband of the late Mary (Tomaielly) Pepin with whom he shared 66 years of marriage.

Born in Acushnet, a son of the late Antonio and Amelia (Ledoux) Pepin he was lifelong area resident and communicant of St. Francis Xavier Parish.

Rene graduated from New Bedford Vocational High School and was later inducted into the Academic Hall of Fame. Mr. Pepin served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was the founder, owner, and operator of Morin & Pepin, Inc. Garage Doors. Rene was a member of the American Legion in Acushnet as well as a Carpentry Advisory Department Board – Member and Building Inspector in Acushnet.

In his spare time, he enjoyed watching the New England Patriots and maintaining his health by staying active. He loved to ski and was an avid golfer. Rene loved to be with his family, especially his grandchildren. A true gentleman, Rene was known for his positive attitude, calming presence and contagious smile.

He is survived by two sons, Brian Pepin and his wife Diane of Acushnet, and Curtis Pepin and his wife Elizabeth of Fairhaven; a sister, Pauline Fisher of Acushnet; five grandchildren, Kimberly Pepin-Goldrick and her husband Nathan, Bryanne Pepin, Matthew Pepin and his wife Elle Srisirikul, Colleen Pepin and her fiancé John Ring, and Kevin Pepin; his dear friend Shirley Caton; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Aurele Pepin, Therese Benoit, and Rita Despres.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Parish, 125 Main St., Acushnet. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
