Rhea Dumont

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Helene (Belanger) Chouinard, she attended Durfee High School before moving to New Bedford with her family in 1966.

Mrs. Dumont was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. She was formerly employed by the Fall River Visiting Nurse Association as Bookkeeper and by the Chausse – Dumont Funeral Home, under the ownership of her husband J. Normand Dumont, as an Office Manager. She was also a former member of Les Dames Patroness of the Sacred Heart Nursing Home and member of the New Bedford Host Lions Club.

She loved her grandchildren dearly, was a great cook and enjoyed reading and sewing.

She is survived by two sons, Donald N. Dumont and his wife Pauline M. and David R. Dumont and his wife Mary L., both of New Bedford; six grandchildren, Donald P. Dumont and his wife Lisa, Christopher J. Dumont and his wife Kerrie, Matthew N. Dumont, Danielle M. Dumont, Shane Z. Dumont and Savannah L. Dumont; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Joseph A. Chouinard.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 9 AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1359 Acushnet Avenue, New Bedford. Her family will gather privately at her former residence prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday, 4-7:30 PM in the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
