Richard “Rick” E. Renoir, 93, of New Bedford passed away Monday, June 16, 2019 at Brandon Woods in Dartmouth. He was the beloved husband of Louise (Robert) Renoir with whom he shared 70 years of marriage.
He was a lifelong resident of New Bedford and a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
At 17, he enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater for more than two years. During his 30 years at Continental Screw Company, he held several positions. When the plant closed, he was production control supervisor and subsequently worked at Sullivan Brothers until his retirement.
Mr. Renoir was a lifelong member of the Freetown VFW Post 6643 and in his spare time he enjoyed reading, dancing and playing cards. Rick and his wife traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe as well as North Africa and the Middle East.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Jeannette, Norman and his wife Barbara; eight grandchildren, Deborah, Robert, Abigail, David, Michael, Kerri, Ryan, and Julie; and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother James, his sons Steven J. and Robert R. and his daughter-in-law Tracy.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 10 a.m. in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, 121 Mt. Pleasant St., New Bedford followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.
