Robert R. Amaral

Robert R. Amaral, age 68, of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the long-time companion of Mellissa-Jean Talbot, and husband of his former wife, Shari (Barnes) Amaral.

Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Raymond and Rachel (Mastera) Amaral.

Robert was educated in the New Bedford public school system and worked for over 40 years at Star Cab. He was in his zone when he went to New England Dragway to either watch the races or participate in them. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed fishing and loved playing games on his cell phone. In his twenties, he loved playing softball; he was pretty fast for being a big guy. He also had a few close friends that he liked to hang out with. He loved all his children and adored his grandchildren. Life won't be the same without him and he will be deeply missed.

In addition to his companion and former wife, he is survived by his loving daughter Cassie Amaral and her wife April Smith of New Bedford; four step-children, Raymond Amaral and his fiancé Jasmine Medeiros of New Bedford, Nicole Amaral and her companion Brandin Braxton of New Bedford, Paul Talbot III of New Bedford, and Tyler Carey of New Bedford; his brother Dennis Amaral and his wife Deborah of North Port, FL; two sisters, Debra Amaral of New Bedford and Joyce Amaral of New Bedford; two grandchildren, Jeremiah and Mac Amaral of New Bedford; three step-grandchildren, Aubrey, Averie and Lucas Rodrigues all of New Bedford; three nieces and a nephew. He was the brother of the late David Amaral.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00PM in the ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745. Per the family, masks are required.
