Robert E. Devlin

Born and raised in New Bedford, he was the beloved son of the late Edward and Ines (Iacaponi) Devlin. A graduate of New Bedford High School, Robert went on to attend SMU. He dedicated 35 years of distinguished service to the New Bedford Police Department, rising to the rank of Captain.

Robert was an avid fisherman who found peace on the water, and he also enjoyed biking throughout the area. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, who brought him his greatest joy.

He is survived by his loving children, Robert Devlin Jr. and his wife Lovely of Boise, ID, and Steven Devlin of CA; grandchildren, Julieta, Dolores, and Sylvia Devlin; sisters, Linda Bramwell and her husband Robert of Westport, and Sandra Teixeira and her husband Phil of CT, and several nieces and nephews.

Robert was predeceased by his siblings Josephine Bland, Dianne Spooner, and Edward Devlin Jr.

His Funeral will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, from 10:00am to 11:00am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00am, in ROCK FUNERAL HOME, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. For online tributes, www.rock-funeralhome.com
