

Robert A. Martin, of Acushnet, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the age of 88. He was the beloved husband of Georgette (Wienzek) Martin, with whom he shared 62 devoted years of marriage.
Born in Ashville, North Carolina, Robert was the son of the late Wilfred and Flora (Desrosiers) Martin. He was a proud graduate of New Bedford Regional Vocational High School, Class of 1956.
Robert began his career at Acushnet Company as a mold maker before founding Acushnet Tool Company, which he owned and operated for 50 years until his retirement in 2008.
A faithful communicant of St. Francis Xavier Parish, Robert was also deeply involved in his community. He served as both a member and President of the Acushnet Rifle and Pistol Club and was a member of the Cape Cod Pistol League.
Robert enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies and interests throughout his life. He loved traveling, rifle shooting, stamp collecting, fishing, hunting, yard work, and cheering on the Boston Red Sox while listening to Big Band music. An avid woodworker, his basement workshop was filled with tools and treasured projects that reflected his craftsmanship and creativity. He was also a volunteer at Fort Taber - Fort Rodman Military Museum.
Above all else, Robert cherished his family. He lived for the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, and those moments brought him immense joy. His loving presence, quiet strength, and dedication to family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Michelle Martin of Florida, and Christopher Martin and his wife, Cathleen, of Maryland; his beloved grandchildren, Halla, Matthew, Elizabeth, Danielle, and Caroline; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Lillian Stamo and his twin brother, Raymond Martin.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Parish, 125 Main Street, Acushnet, MA 02743. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. at Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745.
