

Roger G. Blaise, age 90, of Acushnet, passed away Monday, May 18, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Dorothy A. (Santos) Blaise, to whom he had been married for 68 years.
Born in New Bedford, he was the oldest son of the late George Jules Blaise and the late Sally (Moraux) Blaise. He was the brother of the late Lucien Blaise. Roger witnessed the Pearl Harbor attack when he was six years old. He went on to join the United States Navy, where he honorably served as Quatermaster on the USS Salem during the Korean War.
Roger returned to New Bedford after his military service and raised three children with Dorothy, Michael Blaise (Lizbeth) of Manvel, Texas, Laurie Gallagher of Dartmouth, and Martin Blaise (Yuko) of Acushnet. He will forever be missed by his seven grandchildren, Alyssa Gallagher, Alexis Gallagher, Erin Gallagher, Emma Gallagher, Justin Blaise, Kevin Blaise, and Nicole Blaise. He also had seven great-grandchildren: Addison, Alex, Logan, Lincoln, Madelyn, Maeve, and William.
Roger was employed in the maintenance department of the Acushnet and New Bedford School systems for over 15 years before his retirement. He was a member of the New Bedford and Fall River Pigeon Racing Clubs, was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and woodworking during his free time.
Those close to Roger acknowledge the unwavering support of Laurie Gallagher, Marty Blaise, and Yuko Blaise. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests donations to the National Kidney Foundation.
