Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Lionel and Albina (Robitaille) Coulombe. He earned a certificate as a diesel mechanic and attended Bristol Community College. Roger served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam Era. He worked as a diesel mechanic at SRTA for 20 years until his retirement.
Roger played semi-pro football, volunteered for the Special Olympics, Bay State Girls Softball, Whaling City Baseball as well as Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America. He also enjoyed his volunteer time at St. Mary’s Church and doing upholstery.
Survivors, in addition to his wife are his six children; Joanne Borges and her husband Jeffrey of New Bedford, David Coulombe and his wife Stephanie of Acushnet, Michael Coulombe of New Bedford, Nicole DaSilva and her husband Peter-Henry of New Bedford, Danielle Coulombe and her husband Sushant Dhal of Honolulu, Hawaii, Matthew Coulombe of Medford, one brother, Richard Coulombe of Rochester, six grandchildren; Tyler, Tori, Alison, Ella, Jax, Grayson and several nieces and nephews.
He is pre-deceased by his Sister, Muriel Lanouette.
His visitation will be held Wednesday, October 24 at Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford from 4-8pm. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, at St. Mary’s Church, 343 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford at 10am. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery.
