

Ronald “Ron” J. Dow, 88, of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly Monday, September 8, 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Roberta A. (Medeiros) Dow with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.
Born in Danbury, CT, a son of the late George S. and Annie (Coury) Dow, he lived most of his life in New Bedford. He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart Parish.
Mr. Dow graduated from Holy Family School in 1956 and later Stonehill College in 1960. Ron was a history teacher at Roosevelt, Normandin, and New Bedford High Schools for 38 years having retired in 1998. He also worked at Nabisco as a sales representative, and as director of Camp Kennedy for several years. Mr. Dow was on the New Bedford Library Board of Trustees.
In his spare time, Ron enjoyed traveling, golfing, and spending time with his family. He was an ardent New York Yankee fan. Mr. Dow was a member of the New Bedford Educators Association, Massachusetts Teacher’s Association and National Educators Association.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Deborah Dow-Baglini and her husband Jack, Mark Dow and his wife Joanna, and Timothy Dow; many grandchildren, Nicholas Dow, John Baglini, Wesley Dow, Christian Dow, Caroline Baglini and Alexis Dow; and two great grandchildren, Theo Dow and Jack Baglini; a brother, Michael Dow and his sister, Nadeen LaFleur.
His Memorial Mass will be Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 10 am in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 121 Mt. Pleasant Street, New Bedford, MA. Burial will be private. Visitation will be Friday 4-7 p.m. at Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, MA 02745.
