Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Roland and Noella (Hamel) Guay.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era attaining the rank of Sergeant.
Ron attended Wentworth Institute of Technology and later S.M.U and received his Bachelor’s degree in Electric Engineering Technology.
He was an electronics teacher at Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School in Fall River for 16 years until his retirement. Prior, he worked at Transom Electronics and Allied Brake.
Ron enjoyed skiing, fishing, canoeing, and spending time on his boat “Rah-Rah”. He also enjoyed having breakfast with his colleagues. He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
His family includes three children, Brian Guay and wife Kimberly of Michigan, Kenneth Guay and wife Heather of Fairhaven and Michelle Pequita and husband Eric of New Bedford; two sisters, Janet Morin and husband Arthur “Joe” of E. Freetown and Jo-Ann King and husband Michael of Lakeville; four grandchildren, Amanda Guay, Christopher Messier and wife Holly, Aiden Guay and Logan Guay; three great-grandchildren, Jarien Cardenas, Jaryana Cardenas and Jackson Messier; nieces, nephews, and Godchildren; step-granddaughter Kayla Kincaid and step-great granddaughter Sofia; and his late former wife Muriel E. (Marois) Guay.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 5-8pm in the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 10am in the funeral home followed by burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
