Stephen Slade Partridge, 78, of New Bedford, passed away on April 24, 2026. Born on August 29, 1947, Stephen resided in New Bedford for most of his life. He was the son of the late Henry and Audrey (Sparling) Partridge.
He proudly served in the United States Army in Vietnam, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Stephen earned the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Army Air Medal and a Bronze Star. After returning home he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from U-Mass Dartmouth. Stephen is a descendant of Mayflower passenger John Howland. In addition, he enjoyed traveling, embracing opportunities to see more of the world while remaining rooted in the place he called home.
For over 30 years, Stephen worked as a Budget Analyst at St. Anne's Hospital until his retirement. His professional life was marked by diligence and reliability, and his sense of civic responsibility extended well beyond his daily work. He was a member of the Friends of St. Anne's money tree raffle and annual employee campaign committees, served on the United Way campaign and employee capital campaign committees and was recognized for his generosity and service with the Philanthropist of the Year Award from St. Anne's Hospital in 2005.
He is survived by two brothers, Richard F. Partridge and his wife Janice, and Mark T. Partridge; and his nephews, Ryan Partridge and Andrew Partridge. He was predeceased by his nephew, Geoffrey Partridge.
Stephen will be remembered with respect and gratitude for a life defined by service—to family, to country, to colleagues and community.
Funeral services will be announced in the near future.
