Susan E. Fermino

Susan E. (Aguiar) Fermino, 58, of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 1, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the wife of Vince Fermino with whom she shared 33 loving years together.

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Joseph Aguiar Jr. and Florence (Rose) Aguiar. Susan was a graduate of New Bedford High School class of 1977, and received her certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse from The Diman Nursing Progam in Fall River. She worked at Taunton State Hospital for many years, touching the lives and being a mother figure to many. Susan loved being at the beach, reading a good book, needle-point, and was a proud daughter of a Madeiran, but most of all, loved and adored her husband and children.

Surviving in addition to her husband Vince are three sons; Bryan Aguiar and his wife Jiyeong Kim of South Korea, Vince Henry Fermino Jr. and his wife Cori Slater of Somerset, Nathan Michael Fermino of New Bedford; one daughter, Ashley Ceceilia Gomes of New Bedford; two brothers, Joseph Aguiar lll and Michael Aguiar both from New Bedford; one sister, Donna Flor of Dartmouth; three grandchildren, Lorielei Elizabeth Fermino, Sofia Layla Gomes, Vince Henry Fermino lll and many nieces and nephews.

Her visitation will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from 4:00-8:00PM in the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 8:00AM from the Rock Funeral Home, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00AM at Our Lady of The Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St. New Bedford.
